Digital images optimization with Paint Shop Pro

Now when you have the picture that you shot with your camera (or the image that you saved from our site) and the new, edited image that you made by your own you can compare both files size. Not edited file (especially if it is made with a high quality camera – 5-10 mega pixels) is too big to be uploaded to your web site or to be send to your friends by e-mail. It will take you too much time to be uploaded. If you are trying to send it by e-mail the limit of your mail box may not to be enough for this picture size and you will not able to upload the image at all. And what if you have more than one image for sending? Then it is not possible to attach all images at one time. But if you resize them they will never be the same – your friends / visitors will not be able to see the details that are really important sometimes...

Even if you can upload the image to your web site you must not to forget that some of your visitors don’t have pretty good internet speed and it will takes them too much time to open your image and many times people don’t like the big images. Visitors may loose their patience and to close your site before the image is loaded - even if you have what to show them. Some people have a limited traffic connection, so they can loose their traffic only with one page from your site if you haven’t optimization for your images. Believe me – they will never come back to your pages again!

Problem with the limit space to your server: It is very important to know that if you are using free web server (hosting) or if your package for the hosting is space limited than you may have a problems with the free space for your site, because of the pictures size. If you have a lot of pictures with a big size you will use your server space only for a few images and will be no longer able to upload more pictures. That is why you will need to optimize your images for web.

If you compare now both images – not edited one and this one with the changes you will see that the second image is much smaller than the first one. If you compare now the second and third image you will see that as much changes as you made to make them better looking the size is smaller than the first one, but the quality is going better and better.
